The Marine Resources Hatchery Learning Center has developed from the Crab Hatchery Center which is the initial project before the further step of developing to be the Aquatic Animal Hatchery Learning Center and MoU with the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources to build a marine resource conservation network, to support sustainable fishing in 17 provinces along the Gulf of Thailand coastline to increase marine life abundance and enhance the relationship with government agencies and local fishermen networks. PTTEP contributes technological expertise in building systematic and standard hatchery knowledge as well as support hatchery learning centers with its energy technology.

PTTEP has initiated this project to relieve distress among artisanal fisherman groups in its operation area due to the reduction of aquatic animal numbers. The overfishing, improper fishing tools as well as deteriorating natural coastal affected sea animal habitats and caused low income of fisherman career.

Fishermen in the Huakao and Pangsai community and nearby areas had suffered from lower-income from marine fish and crab reduction, earning only a few hundred baht a day against 4,000 – 6,000 baht from nearing 100 Kgs of crab fishing in the past. Some families for whom crab catch has been a livelihood for decades were desperate and switched to other jobs.

Since the center’s inception in 2013, PTTEP has participated by introducing its technological expertise in boosting fishermen’s knowledge of crab hatching, nursing pool improvement, plankton nursery, aeration system, temperature control, and improving seawater quality for the hatching and nursing before releasing crabs into the marine habitat.

More than 1,000 million baby crabs were released into the sea, within 12 months from the record of at least 6 groups of fishermen networks in 2020. The baby crabs releasing is maintained as their routine work.

The initiative of Conservation Area to continuing building fish PSB Songkhla covered 6 square kilometers is born and continue by these fishermen with awareness of how to balance the ecological and build nursing areas for marine lives that will eventually return benefits to their fishing.

PTTEP also supports the Local Fishery Groups in restoration activities setting up the Fish PSB Songkhla in the Gulf of Thailand and Songkhla Lake.

Crab Hatchery Learning Center Project recently has 35 network group members.

The knowledge of crab hatchery has extended to elevate and strengthen the Pangsai fishery group to formed up the Marine Aquatic Hatchery Center in Pangsai and others in PTTEP Soutern operation area.

More than 1,500 participatory individuals from different organizations have participated in crab and marine conservation activities. At least releasing crabs into the natural sea under the awareness-raising event.

The record is also shown more than 10,000 visitors in recent.

Songkhla Towards the World Heritage Project :
Additional from the social project and community development, whenever emergency incidents or crises happened, PTTEP has done its best to help and support the government sectors and the affected communities in its operational areas. The Petroleum Development Support Base, Songkhla of PTTEP always participated in activities of communities and societies in its operational areas.

Sea Turtle Conservation Project :
Collaborate with the Royal Thai Navy Sea Turtle Conservation Center, Naval Area Command 2 at Songkhla, to develop the Sea Turtle Conservation Center, aimed to be the marine conservation center for the down south area of Thailand.

Sea Turtle Conservation Exhibition. The Sea Turtle Conservation Building, under the Second Naval Area Command, has been constructed under the PTTEP CSR corporate budget of 2.5 million baht. The inside building exhibition has been created under the G1/61 and G2/61 of the PTTEP Energy Development Co., Ltd to ensure that PTTEP exploration and production practice has been aware and worked closely with related organizations for people's benefits.

With coronavirus (COVID-19) rapidly spreading in 2020 to 2022 throughout Songkhla, PTTEP has donated a plastic gown FE that doctors and nurses must wear while examining patients to determine if they are infected or while treating infected patients.

Medical equipment and food supplies were also distributed to the people affected by the Songkhla Province pandemic.

PTTEP also has donated more than 500 sets per year of survival kits to Songkhla Province and the Singha Nakhon District for distribution to affected people regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) rapidly spreading.

PTTEP participated in World Ocean Day activities with related government officials, including the Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Center and the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources.
